What it was like

It’s a no-fuss 3-star kind of place. Not luxury, but comfortable enough and great if you’re spending most of your time out exploring. During my stay at Hotel Medplaya Piramide Salou, I found the accommodation to be acceptable but nothing particularly outstanding. The room was comfortable enough for a short stay, although it lacked some of the amenities and modern touches I might have expected. The hotel's facilities were decent, with a pool area and restaurant offering decent options for relaxation and dining.

Location & value

The main win is value for money and being close enough to get around easily without feeling miles away from everything. See the map below for reference.

Top spots in this area

There is plenty to do in this area! Check out some top spots below.

Platja de Llevant

Best for: wide sandy beach days

One of Salou’s main beaches with soft sand and plenty of space to relax, swim, or take slow sunset walks along the shore.

Passeig Jaume I

Best for: lively promenade strolls

A beautiful pedestrian street lined with palm trees, shops, cafés, and ice cream spots—perfect for slow wandering any time of day.

Ryan's Favourite

PortAventura World

Best for: theme park thrills

A short ride from Salou, this massive park has roller coasters, shows, and water rides that make for a full-on fun day out.

Bosc Aventurer Salou

Best for: tree-top fun

Aerial courses and zip lines offer a different type of adventure. It’s great if you want some outdoor activity away from the beach.

Cala Crancs Beach

Best for: quieter swimming spots

Tucked in a little cove, this beach feels calmer than the main stretch. It’s ideal for a more peaceful swim or sunbathe.

Torre Vella

Best for: local history and views

An old fortified tower with small exhibits and rooftop views over Salou. It’s a quick and interesting stop for a bit of history.

Salou Marina

Best for: boats and waterside cafés

A relaxed spot to watch boats, enjoy gelato, or have a coffee by the water. It’s especially nice in the early evening.

Seafood Restaurants on the Coast

Best for: fresh local flavours

Salou’s coastal restaurants serve great seafood and traditional dishes. Eating with a sea breeze and views adds to the whole trip feel.
