The Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam

A genuinely nice surprise just outside the city. We arrived early and somehow got checked in at 9am (hotel lottery), then spent the stay enjoying a super comfy room, a brilliant shower setup, and easy train access into Amsterdam.

Early check-in win

The Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam exterior

We arrived bright and early and found out we could check in at 9am—five hours ahead of schedule. It made the whole day feel calmer straight away and gave us time to settle before heading out.

Room comfort and the shower setup

The room felt modern and properly comfortable. The shower was the highlight: overhead rain + wall-mounted option, and the best little luxury detail—there was even a heat lamp in the shower room. Tiny thing, big difference.

Location, views, and getting into the city

We were on the sixth floor with views across Amsterdam’s outskirts and an industrial stretch below—urban grit mixed with something weirdly satisfying. Being right by the train line made getting into the city centre easy.
